About Us

Orrin Street Press is a family-owned homeschool business located in North Carolina. We stumbled across the Charlotte Mason method of homeschooling several years ago and weaved many of her methods into our homeschool experience, particularly nature study and living books. It is our delight in these two things (nature study and living books) that brought about our first study guides series, Nature Study and More.

Using living books as a backdrop, the environment of the story setting is ‘explored and observed’ as the book itself is studied. Each study guide has discussion of story elements, writing assignments, vocabulary, ready-to-use forms and more! Two levels of literature are available – easy reader books and chapter books – so as to meet the needs of all your family members.

Our second study guide series, Watching American Literature: American Literature through Movies, teaches American Literature with suitable film adaptations. Using films to replace some of your literature selections has several advantages: teaching multiple ages together, group discussions, and allowing those with language learning disabilities the opportunity to benefit from wonderful literature even if unable to actually read the selections.

Through carefully selected film adaptations these studies teach themes, discuss characters and their motivations, supply content questions, provide essay questions and pre-made forms, and more.
